The Kahonas

The Kahonas from Hawaii are now serving on our mission. They are a great couple with a powerful testimony. We served today with them at the Jacob Hamlin home. At church this morning we ran into the Howards our neighbors in Orem and Darrell Jensen and his wife. He was the one who baptized me. The Howards them came out to Jacobs and we gave them a tour. Yesterday at the Visitor Center two ladies from Palm Springs, California came to the temple visitor center. They were in town to an Amway conference. They spoke little English. I taught them about the Mormon church and  gave them Book of Mormons in the Spanish language. At sacrament meeting this morning a Brother spoke about his conversion 40 years ago. He said it all began at the Salt Lake temple visitor center when he was a young non member of our church. He said then he was very touched and one day wanted to go in the temple. Later he met a member who taught him more about the church and then joined. So we do not know when or where these people will we teach will come in contact with the church again.

Mainland China

Sunday I was visited at the Center by two men from Spain and a man from the mainland China. They were students at U C  Irvine working on their MBAs. They were really cordial and accepted Book of Mormons in their native tongue. Yesterday Al and Joyce came down and spent a night. Al bought me a round of golf at Sunbrook. Darolyne got sick again and it seems she just cant shake the flu. Today we are going over to Brigham Youngs house. It is 65 degrees now and the Roses are starting to bloom.

The Tribe of Judah

Today at the Tabernacle the first visit I had was a man from Atlanta. He is a Producer for Fox News, he was in the town to direct a production with our Senator Mike Lee at the St.George Marriott hotel with a live feed to Mike Wallace in Washington DC. I took him for a tour ; he was quite interested in our history. At the end of the tourI asked him if he knew anything about the Mormon religion. He said no. He told me he was a Jew. I told him about the Book  of Mormon and how it was the history of the American Indians. I asked if he would like a copy to read on his flight home to Atlanta. He said yes. So this is a first for me I gave a Book to a member of the tribe of Judah. Through my mother I also have Jewish blood.

Valentines Day

On this day I want everyone who reads this to know I love love love my beautiful wife. She is beauty in  the way she looks and has aged but she is even more beautiful in her spirit. She has done a fantastic job as a missionary, she give great tours, very spiritual and gracious and in her collateral duties no one is better. Yesterday we put a bid on another house in Stonebrook. We will see. It would be a great home to be able to live here at least half a year. Pictures coming if we get it. It will start to be our busy season now with Presidents day kicking it off. Yesterday was our P day and we not only put a bid on a house but

we went on a little hike. This is Cuckwalla canyon just outside of town such another beautiful place in St. George. Today it will be 75 degrees on Valentines Day. This last week Elder Watkins asked me to be his Assistant along with Elder Bowcutt. We will also take over doing the Firesides on Friday night. Another story about Sister Brenders. She lost her wallet, she is from France so to have to get copies of everything else. So she fasted and prayed then the next day a person brought her wallet in to the Visitor Center. A Miracle  then guess what because she was blessed by the Lord she fasted again the next day to show gratitude to the Lord. Also up north in Utah they have had a severe drought this winter. So 32 Stakes had a fast and it started snowing and raining and has not quit. A Miracle and an answer to fast and prayer. Oh I forgot , last Sunday we spoke at a retirement center for Sacrament Meeting. There I was summoned by Duane Davis. Also a gentleman came up afterward and asked why I brought my Daughter with me. Ha Ha.

Where Do I Begin

Where do I begin, the last couple of days are filled with spiritual events. Yesterday a young girl came in  to the Tabernacle from Alabama with an older lady . Her name is Deantra Alexis. She just joined the church in Alabama. Just after her baptism she went to General Conference and heard a talk by Jeffery Holland. She was struck by the spirit and wanted to move to Utah to be with more Mormans. So she did she went home packed up and came to Highland Utah and is staying with this lady until she can find a job. What a test of Faith. Reminds me of our ancestors who gave it all to come to Utah. Anyway I asked her if she sang she answered yes. So I asked her if she would sing  I AM A CHILD OF GOD. She sang from the Tabernacle Pulpit.At the same time Darolyne was giving a tour to non members from Florida. A father had come to be with his daughter for a day who is in a 24 hour facility in Virgin, Utah. They were in the balcony when

 Deantra sang It was such a great experience for this girl, you could feel the spirit fill the Tabernacle. Darolyne was able to give a Book of Mormon to the Dad from Florida. Earlier A couple came in from Des Moines Iowa the lady was a school Superintendent and a Lutheren. She dealt with Indian students when I shared with her that the Book of Mormon was a history of the Native Americans and told her the Indian people all have traditions of a sainted healer who came to visit them, she agreed. They took a Book of Mormon and the Testimony of Joseph Smith. Then last night was Rocky Revel the Seconds Baptism. Remember his story of how he was converted. It was a really spiritual event and Darolyne and I got to attend. President Center and his wife were also there.

New Collateral Duties

Yesterday Darolyne and I at our Tuesday morning missionary meeting were given our new collateral duties. We will now be taking Elder and Sister  Hewstone of Australia jobs. They were in charge of the Tabernacle Friday night Firesides. You need to get speakers their bios and a conducting sheet and then go to the meeting and introduce them. Also Elder Watkins our Director for the visitor center and historic sites asked me to be the new second counselor  with him. That would replace Elder Cannon who will be going home in a few weeks. I will be meeting with him and Elder Bowcutt of Perry, Utah. Today in the Visitor Center it was very slow I did give a Book of Mormon to this lady who is going to give it to her neighbor from Columbia. This lady from Columbia can not speak any English so we gave her a Book of Mormon in Spanish. Tonight Darolyne was asked to go visit nonmembers with two of our Sister Missionaries. They need a third Sister when they visit a single man. Oh yesterday we had a first in our mission we went all day at Jacob Hamlins' house without one visitor, a first.
